Thinking About Playing Women's Rugby?
You've probably got a few questions.
"Am I fit enough?"
"What if I've never played before?"
"Will I know anyone?"
"Is rugby actually for someone like me?"
The answer is simple.
Yes.
At Easts Rugby Canberra, we believe rugby should be for everyone. Whether you've played representative rugby, another sport, or have never picked up a rugby ball in your life, you'll find a welcoming team ready to help you get started.
Some of our players arrive looking for a new challenge. Others are chasing competitive rugby after moving to Canberra. Many simply want to meet new people and be part of something bigger than themselves.
Whatever brings you here, we'd love to have you at Easts.
You Don't Need Rugby Experience
One of the biggest myths about rugby is that everyone starts young.
They don't.
Every season we welcome women who have never played before. Some have backgrounds in netball, AFL, soccer or touch football. Others haven't played sport in years.
It doesn't matter.
Our coaches and experienced players will help you learn everything from passing and tackling to game awareness and match preparation, all at a pace that builds confidence.
Everyone remembers what it felt like to be new.
That's why no one gets left behind.
More Than Just Rugby
Ask our players why they keep coming back, and chances are they won't start by talking about the rugby.
They'll talk about the people.
The friendships.
The laughs at training.
The conversations after games.
The support when life gets busy.
At Easts, we're building more than a women's rugby team.
We're building a community where players genuinely enjoy spending time together, both on and off the field.
Whether it's celebrating after a hard-fought match, heading to The Durham Castle Arms with teammates, volunteering around the club or joining our annual Byron Bay Sevens trip, you'll quickly discover that rugby becomes about much more than eighty minutes on a Saturday.
Challenge Yourself
Rugby has a way of surprising people.
Players who thought they'd never tackle someone discover they love defence.
Players who never considered themselves athletic become some of the fittest they've ever been.
Quiet people become leaders.
Teammates become lifelong friends.
Women's rugby challenges you physically, mentally and emotionally, but it also rewards you in ways few sports can.
You'll become stronger.
Fitter.
More confident.
And you'll do it surrounded by people who genuinely want to see you succeed.

As women's rugby continues to grow across Canberra and Australia, there's never been a better time to get involved.
New to Canberra?
Moving to a new city can be lonely.
Joining a rugby club is one of the fastest ways to change that.
Every year we welcome players who have moved to Canberra for work, university, defence postings or simply a fresh start.
Within a few weeks, they're training alongside teammates, catching up after games and feeling like they've found their people.
That's what club rugby does.
Why Easts?
There are plenty of places to play women's rugby in Canberra.
We're not trying to be the biggest club.
We're trying to be the club people recommend because of the way it makes them feel.
A place where you're welcomed from your very first training session.
Where nobody cares if you're brand new.
Where teammates celebrate your first tackle just as loudly as your first try.
And where every player helps shape the future of one of Canberra's oldest rugby clubs.
