Kiama Sevens | Match Day Captain's Report

February 23, 2025

What a day for our Easts women at Kiama 7s! Three solid games gave us the chance to build on our skills, strengthen our teamwork, and grow together as a squad. With three debutants proudly pulling on the Easts jersey for the first time, it was an exciting step forward as we continue preparing for the 10s season ahead.

We’ve been working hard at training, and it showed—our passing, tackling and scrummaging were standout highlights, and we saw real improvement with each game. The team’s effort, energy, and determination kept building throughout the day, and we’re proud of the progress we made.

Game 1 saw a mix of established and new players take the field, with many strong scrums, solid runs up the middle and nifty offloads seeing many metres made. An unfortunate yellow card in both the first and second games due to simple error saw the girls down to 6 players, but their spirits remained high and the strong game play continued. This determination resulted in 2 team try’s.

Easts women are on the scoreboard!

Game three was a tough finish to the day, with strong opponents in Albury, however, the girls played with guts and finished the day on a high.

Massive thanks to Wests Rugby Club for loaning us Sydnee and Chip for the day! To our incredible coaches, the Easts men’s players who came to Kiama to support, and our amazing sponsor MP Solutions, we’re so grateful for your help in getting us to Kiama and backing us every step of the way. Plenty of positives to take away, and plenty more to come—bring on the next challenge!
